Additional Information

Dermal Fillers are injectables designed to replace lost volume in the deeper tissues of the face. They can be used to restore lost volume in our midface, cheeks and jawline, and to soften lines and wrinkles in areas of the face which may have become slightly deflated over time. The effects should always look natural – you will look like yourself, only healthier, more youthful and refreshed. Because we implement the highest quality dermal fillers in our clinic and have a gradual approach to re-volumisation – recommending only the minimal volume required for a desired effect –  we maintain consistent natural-looking enhancements and avoid overtreated appearances.

The Dermal Fillers we use in our clinics are made from a substance known as hyaluronic acid, a synthetically produced but naturally occurring glycoprotein found in the skin in humans. Hyaluronic acid acts to provide structure to our tissue as well as hydration. This substance contains molecules that are bound together by cross-links into cohesive gels, meaning they hold their shape when injected into areas where we aim to replace lost volume. Consequently, when these are injected strategically under the skin in areas of volume loss, they naturally restore the fullness of the face in a subtle way. The body naturally breaks down hyaluronic acid so over time the fillers are reabsorbed safely into the body with no lasting effects. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid fillers can be removed using injections of an enzyme known as hyaluronidase if there are any problems or undesirable cosmetic effects encountered following a filler treatment, but this is rarely necessary.

Dermal fillers are an excellent treatment for volume loss and deep lines with almost no downtime and immediate results. Fillers are particularly effective for restoring lost volume in the mid and lower face, reducing the appearance of tear trough grooves and jowls, and also subtly changing the shape of the nose without the need for surgery. In addition, they are also used to enhance structural contours, such as the cheekbone or jawline contour.

As our faces age, we tend to lose volume in a very predictable way, and our faces begin to sag, creating deep furrows, tear troughs, marionette lines, and smile line folds. Facial descent gradually forms jowls. Therefore, dermal fillers aim to replace this lost volume in a subtle yet effective way, and creative placement of filler can be used to achieve a ‘lifted’ appearance. Furthermore, we also offer Dermal Fillers for Lip Enhancement, Jawline and Chin enhancement, Tear Trough and for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Dermal Fillers work extremely well in conjunction with other treatments including anti-wrinkle injections for fine lines and wrinkles, and skin boosters such as Profhilo to rejuvenate the skin itself, and soften the signs of ageing.

There can be raised bumps or slight redness from injection points, but this usually subsides within a a few hours to days. With any injectable treatment there is a chance that bruising and/or swelling may occur. This will usually appear within 24-48 hours from treatment. However, this is a completely normal process and will usually subside within a week for most patients, and can be partly concealed with make up.

We specialise exclusively in natural-looking facial enhancements. Dermal filler treatments should only ever be done in a minimalistic way to replace lost volume and enhance facial structure. On the other hand, an odd cosmetic look can be created when too much filler is used. Therefore, we have a gradual approach with dermal fillers, injecting minimal volume then adding to this over several sessions if needed, to ensure natural-looking re-volumisation. You will look like yourself, but more rested and fresher. You should never look like you’ve had dermal filler injected after a good treatment.

As London’s leading clinic for natural-looking dermal filler treatments, we only use the highest quality hyaluronic acid dermal filler products, including Juvederm and Teoxane products. Most fillers will last for 12-18 months and will gradually break down over this time. But there are other factors that can affect length of results, which includes patient lifestyle and biological factors (e.g. metabolic activity).

Yes – we have a gradual, controlled approach with dermal filler injections to ensure we avoid unnatural looking results. Therefore we will usually use small volumes in initial treatments, with further build up of filler volume if needed at subsequent planned visits. As such, our fees are structured per syringe, so an additional syringe or two may be added at any stage as needed to achieve the best result in your individual case.

Following dermal filler treatments, we recommend being careful not to massage the area in the first 72 hours to minimise disrupting the placement of filler whilst it settles into the tissue. We also recommend sleeping slightly propped up, on your back rather than your side, perhaps with an extra pillow or two at the sides reduce the risk of side sleeping that may cause pressure compression of the filler. These precautions are only required for the first 48 hours. Bruising can be treated with topical arnica gel or cream. Exercise is best avoided for 24 hours post treatment to reduce the risk of swelling.

We recommend not wearing makeup around the injected areas for 12 hours after the treatment to reduce the risk of skin infection. However, you can continue your normal skincare routine on the evening of your treatment.
