Additional Questions

Profhilo is an injectable treatment consisting of a high concentration of thermally-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. This is injected into the deep layer of the skin to treat skin texture irregularities, crepeyness and fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the dermis of the skin, so this treatment is considered a ‘bio-stimulator’.

Profhilo is formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the skin, which acts to hydrate and nourishing the skin, giving it a glowing appearance. Profhilo is injected into the dermis of the skin, where it stimulates a reaction in the skin’s fibroblast cells to induce the production of new collagen and elastin for 3-6 months after the treatment series. This unique injectable improves skin thickness and bounce, as well as improving the skin’s elasticity. Profhilo results in an overall brighter and smoother appearance and over time improves the quality of skin, and also gently lifts treated areas over time. Profhilo also hydrates the skin by it’s very nature, giving deep hydration. The treatment comprises of 2-3 sessions where injections of Profhilo are performed, which creates little ‘bumps’ on the skin surface, from which the product spreads across the treated area in the dermis of the skin within hours, treating the entire area surrounding the injections. These ‘bumps’ last for about 4-6 hours after the treatment and can be gently massaged from a few hours after the injection time.

Profhilo is a unique treatment as it has a dual phase action – initially it gives deep skin hydration and glow, smoothing out of fine lines and wrinkles due to it’s ultra high concentration of hyaluronic acid. The second, longer term phase of treatment (3-6 months) is dermal remodelling, due to stimulation of collagen and elastin production by dermal fibroblast cells. This results in a thickened, healthier dermis of the skin, with longer term reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, and a healthier, more hydrated appearance. Profhilo spreads within the deep layer of the skin to treat the whole face (or neck, or indeed any other area in the body), giving an overall refreshed appearance and improved skin quality and texture.

Profhilo can be used on any part of the body but most commonly used on the face and neck.

Profhilo can be used in conjunction with many other treatments including our laser and injectable treatments. Profhilo is commonly injected after Endolift to further boost skin enhancement, either together at the same session or in separate sessions. Upper face Anti-Wrinkle Injections and mid-lower face Profhilo are another common combination of treatments to provide full face skin texture improvement.

Downtime is minimal with Profhilo. Little ‘bumps’ appear at the injection points but these usually settle within 4-6 hours and this is a normal and expected appearance. They tend to be more prominent in areas where the skin is thinner, for example on the neck. These ‘bumps’ can be massaged to encourage them to settle. With any injectables there is always a chance of bruising and/or swelling which may occur within a few hours of the treatment, most often resolving within 24-48 hours.

Yes – we frequently undertake treatments where Profhilo is combined with other injectables, such as Dermal fillers or Anti-Wrinkle injections.

The advised treatment schedule is 2 treatments, one month apart. This represents a ‘cycle’ of Profhilo treatment, and is then repeated again after 6 months. More sessions can be done without risk as it is not possible to create unnatural effects with this treatment.

Yes – although this may cause a slightly increased risk of swelling.
